Wine expert Tom Gilbey to lead exclusive wine-pairing dinner at Sam’s Waterside in Brentford ahead of book release
Wine expert and social media personality Tom Gilbey will host two wine-pairing dinners at Sam’s Waterside in Brentford in the coming weeks, ahead of the launch of his second book and a forthcoming UK and Ireland tour. The events, organised in collaboration with Sam’s co-founder Sam Harrison, will feature a five-course meal accompanied by a selection of wines chosen by the oenophile.
Known to his online following as “The Wine Guy”, Gilbey has built a substantial audience on Instagram, where he discusses wine in an informal style, describing himself as “an accidental Instagram sensation, marathon runner and now author”.
During the evenings, guests will be welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and oysters before the main meal begins. Gilbey will guide attendees through each course’s wine pairing, sharing background on the producers and his own experiences in the industry. An interactive Q&A will also take place, giving guests the chance to put questions to Gilbey on wine and on his use of social media.
Sam’s Waterside, which overlooks the dock and canal in Brentford, opened in 2023 as the sister restaurant to Sam’s Riverside in Hammersmith. The team serves a brasserie-style menu focused on modern British cuisine, with ingredients sourced from local suppliers including Chiswick House Kitchen Garden and Phoenix Farm in White City. The restaurant was named Best New Business 2024 at the West London Chamber of Commerce Business Awards and has been recognised by the LIV Hospitality Design Awards for its interiors. It holds two AA Rosettes, as does its sister site, which also appears in the Michelin Guide and Harden’s Best UK Restaurants Guide.
Tickets for the wine-pairing dinners are priced at £95 per person, with availability limited due to the intimate format.
