Galvin Bistrot & Bar to bring Paris to Spitalfields next week for Bastille Day
Galvin Bistrot & Bar, the restaurant in Spitalfields, will mark Bastille Day next Tuesday with a day-long event centred on French food and culture at its premises on Bishopsgate. A specially created three-course menu, priced at £35 per person, will be served throughout the day, with a street party held outside. It’s the latest iteration of the team’s annual celebration, which has become a regular part of the local calendar that gives guests a taste of France’s National Day without them having to leave the City of London.
The venue specialises in classic French and Mediterranean dishes served in a relaxed setting that’s popular for both everyday dining and seasonal feasts. It operates alongside its sister restaurant, the Michelin-starred Galvin La Chapelle, as part of the Galvin Restaurants group, founded by brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin. The Bastille Day menu has been designed by chef director Arturo Granato.
The Galvin Restaurants group was established more than two decades ago. La Chapelle, in the City of London, has held a Michelin star since 2011 and sits in a building noted for its architecture. Meanwhile, the Bistrot & Bar, next door in Spital Square, offers a menu based on seasonal ingredients sourced from the group’s suppliers. Beyond London, there’s also Galvin Green Man in Howe Street, Great Waltham – a pub and restaurant in the Essex countryside that has been awarded a Bib Gourmand and serves modern British food.
The Bastille Day set menu and street party at Galvin Bistrot & Bar are open to members of the public who book in advance, with the £35 charge covering all three courses.
