The Greenhouses Marylebone launches Afternoons in Bloom series pairing afternoon tea with wine and fragrance workshops

The Greenhouses Marylebone has announced a new series of ticketed events called Afternoons in Bloom, launching this summer at its central London venue. The series pairs afternoon tea with workshops and tastings hosted in collaboration with independent brands, with the first two events scheduled for Saturday 25th July and Sunday 2nd August at the venue at 1 Marylebone Road.

Each event combines a themed experience with the venue’s afternoon tea menu.  The first event, on Saturday 25th July, is a guided wine tasting held with Graft, an independent wine importer based in Fitzrovia, central London. The tasting is a narrative-led experience exploring the origin, aroma and pairing of wines across the savoury and sweet courses of the afternoon tea. Attendees will receive afternoon tea with unlimited tea and four tasting-sized wines.

The second event, on Sunday 2nd August, is a fragrance blending session run with Ribbon & Bow, a creative studio founded by two sisters. Participants will explore a selection of aromas, learn about top, heart and base notes, and create a 10ml blended fragrance to take home. The experience includes afternoon tea with unlimited tea, a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and the finished fragrance.

The afternoon tea menu at The Greenhouses draws on Middle-Eastern influences. It features finger sandwiches of roast marinated beetroot with labneh, truffle honey and dukkah brittle, alongside pomegranate-cured salmon with fennel and rose harissa crème fraîche, both served on challah bread. Savoury items include harissa chicken with sweetcorn, chicken brittle and pickled mango; a spiced lamb Scotch egg with crème fraîche; and a wild mushroom sausage roll with caramelised red onion, feta and dukkah.

The menu also includes fresh fruit scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, followed by sweet items such as glazed lemon meringue pie, spiced carrot cake with candied walnut, and a glazed chocolate and pistachio éclair.

Tickets for the Afternoons in Bloom summer events are priced at £65 per person.

The Greenhouses opened in January 2023 as a collection of private dining spaces originally set within the grounds of the Grade I listed One Marylebone. The concept has since expanded to include a location in the City of London. Catering across both sites is provided in-house by the team behind One Events and One Dining.
