Lily Vanilli brings Georgian-inspired desserts to Mayfair’s DakaDaka for one week only

London baker Lily Vanilli is introducing a Georgian-inspired dessert menu at DakaDaka, in Mayfair, for one week only from Saturday 1st August to Saturday 8th August. The most popular of the special selection dish among diners will remain available for the rest of the month.

Lily Vanilli is an East London bakery which specialises in buttercream designs and has built a following of more than 420,000 people on Instagram. The baker behind the business has a longstanding interest in Georgian cuisine, having previously opened a bakery in Tbilisi, and cites an interest in the country’s flavours, ingredients and culinary traditions.

The limited-run menu combines traditional Georgian flavours with a contemporary approach and comprises four items. The Sweet Adjarian Khachapuri, priced at £12, is a dessert reworking of the traditional boat-shaped bread that is usually filled with cheese and a golden egg yolk. In this version, brioche dough is filled with mascarpone crème pâtissière and mozzarella, baked in a wood-fired oven and topped with a ‘yolk’ of sour cherry compote and a candied tarragon garnish.

The Saperavi Black Forest Sundae, also £12, is based on DakaDaka’s Saperavi Soft Serve, which is made using the Georgian red wine grape of the same name. The soft serve is swirled with a Saperavi chocolate sauce and topped with chunks of salted caramel brownie from the Lily Vanilli bakery, toasted walnut and macerated sour cherries.

The Georgian Apple Pie, priced at £12, features a flaky crust encasing sweet apples with a layer of salted brown sugar sponge on top. Completing the menu is the Cha Cha Sour Cherry Jelly Shot at £6, which uses Cha Cha, Georgia’s national spirit. The drink sets white Cha Cha beneath a layer of sour cherry jelly and cherry syrup.

The Georgian dessert menu forms part of the restaurant’s standard à la carte menu during the promotional week, allowing diners to order the items alongside the venue’s existing offering, served from lunch through to dinner.
