Vagabond Wines pours into Canary Wharf with 120-strong by-the-glass list

Vagabond Wines has opened a new bar on Park Drive in Wood Wharf, Canary Wharf, serving more than 120 wines by the glass alongside a menu of modern European sharing plates. The waterside site, which includes a heated terrace overlooking the water, is the latest addition to the self-pour chain’s estate.

Set across two floors, the venue covers 4,000 sq ft with more than 130 covers. Guests use Vagabond’s self-pour machines to serve themselves a tasting measure, half glass or full glass, rather than buying a bottle, a format the company has used since it was founded in Fulham in 2010.

The list spans red, white, rosé and sparkling wines, as well as orange, organic and low-intervention bottles. Among the wines available on tap are releases from Vagabond’s own Urban Winery, roughly 1,300 metres away in Canada Water and the largest of its kind in the country. The winery sources grapes from vineyards in England and elsewhere in Europe – all within a two-hour radius – to be made and bottled in the capital. Other options include Picpoul from the Languedoc region of southern France and Artelium Nature Series Cuvée English Sparkling, among many more. The self-pour system allows customers to compare regions, grape varieties and styles across a single visit.

Food is overseen by executive chef Marco Pastoris, who has put together a menu of modern European small plates intended for sharing. Dishes include Burrata di Puglia PDO, Pil Pil Prawns, Iberico Croquetas, pork belly, padrón peppers and Hanger Steak Tagliata, along with charcuterie and cheese boards.

Vagabond currently has 14 bars across London and Birmingham, with staff trained through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. The business was acquired by Majestic Wine in 2024 and has continued to expand since. At the new Canary Wharf location, opening hours are midday till 11pm on Mondays, midnight from Tuesday to Thursday, 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and 10pm on Sundays. Its arrival adds another food and drink option to the buzzing Wood Wharf.
