Schofield’s Bar to open first London site in Covent Garden

Schofield’s Bar, the Manchester cocktail venue run by brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield, will open a second site in London’s Covent Garden in early November, marking their first expansion beyond the city where the bar launched in 2021.

The founding bar occupies part of Sunlight House in Manchester, an art deco building in the city centre, and has drawn on the cocktail culture of the 1930s in both its drinks list and its interiors. Its menu combines established drinks such as Martinis and Manhattans with the team’s own creations. In the heart of Theatreland, the new London outpost is expected to follow in the footsteps of the original, concentrating on classic cocktails alongside house recipes, with further details to be released in the coming months.

Both Daniel and Joe worked in senior bar roles before opening their own watering hole in 2021. Between them they have led teams at Coupette and the American Bar at The Savoy in London, and at Tippling Club in Singapore. They returned to Manchester to open Schofield’s, a venture they have described as a longstanding ambition. It has since accumulated a number of industry awards, recognised by The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2022 and 2023, winning Best Bar in the UK at the CLASS Bar Awards in the same two years, and taking top position in the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail Bars list in 2024. In 2018, Joe Schofield was the first bartender to win both the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award at The World’s 50 Best Bars and International Bartender of the Year at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. By the looks of things, this latest project promises to bring some serious talent to the capital.
