How to: Wear suede

How to: Wear suede

Whether you opt for a 70s bohemian vibe or more of a minimal look, suede is guaranteed to be your new favourite fabric. The leathery, napped material has been featured all over the catwalk in an assortment of different shades, structures and patterns.

So it’s official: suede is here to stay! Tempted to test the waters? Here’s a guide to how you can pull the trend off with ease.

Pastels

It’s no longer only about tanned colours, as bubble gum pink, mint greens and hues of lavender are having their moment. These tones are perfect to wear this summer and look best when matched with pale and metallic accessories.

Patchwork

Patchwork is the best option for an overall show- stopping effect. It’s had a major comeback thanks to designers such as Yves Saint Laurent. The advantage is that patchwork garments are surprisingly versatile, so let it be the star of the show and wear it with your never ending supply of trustee basics.

Tailored

Have a job interview? Trying a new look for work? No Problem! Loewe’s spring summer collection is just one of the many examples of trenches, blazers and culottes that have been featured all over the catwalk, the high-street and street style blogs. Follow into the label’s footsteps and style your pencil skirt or wide-leg trousers with a suede cover-up.

Fringing

This will always create a maximum effect on any outfit. Portray the essence of a seventies goddess and pair your new fringed jacket with a flared jumpsuit, follow the likes of style queen Olivia Palermo and snap up the Michael Kors tassels maxi skirt (or a purse-safe look-a-like) with your best collared shirt or style your tasselled clutch with, well, anything your heart desires.

Head-to-toe

Not only are high-end designers in favour of this look, but this has created a huge social media buzz and been seen in many street style blogs. The key is to tone down the look by sticking to a maximum of three colours, wearing those colours in as many shades as possible.
