David Beckham will be the first solo male cover star on Elle magazine

He has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and was the England captain. He married a Spice Girl, made America fall for his handsome English looks and has his own underwear collection out. So what’s next for football hunk David Beckham? To be the first male on an Elle magazine cover, of course.

Having modelled for Armani and for his own underwear label with H&M, David Beckham is not new to fashion. And let’s not forget the small detail of being married to Victoria Beckham, who has her own designer label and who is also an avid fashionista. So being the first male on the cover of Elle magazine should be a piece of cake for him. He will appear on Elle UK’s July 2012 Olympic issue, which is all about showcasing the best of British and starts with a saucy shot of Goldenballs himself, who is also the Olympic ambassador.

Elle have previously featured men on their covers, but Mr Beckham gets a solo act unlike other covers, which have featured Ewan McGregor and Renée Zellweger or Liam Gallagher and his wife Nicole Appleton. Victoria Beckham has also previously been the cover girl for a variety of fashion magazines, some of which include Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Glamour and Elle. So David Beckham can be sure to speak to his wife for tips, but with his abs, we’re sure he won’t need any.

This football star and national treasure is said to be “honoured to be the first ever solo fashion cover” and is “really excited” to take part in it. This issue of Elle is sure to be a big seller as a lot of girls will also be glad to see him take part in it. The Olympic edition, which includes an exclusive interview and images of David Beckham, is out on 30th May.
