Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch review: Tradition and innovation blend in perfect alchemy

From the second you enter the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch, your expectations will certainly be outranked. There’s a perfect mix of old and new, tradition and innovation, which blend in perfect alchemy.

Located in the heart of East London, the five-star hotel features 128 rooms and suites. All of them have exquisite interiors and feature a flat-screen TV, minibar, desk and en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, bathrobes and slippers.

There is also free WiFi available throughout the hotel, as well as room service. Each room also offers a phone device with a built-in London guide, recommending the best places to see and eat – handy for everyone, whether on visit for business or pleasure.

The building, formerly the Old Street Magistrates’ Court, is in Edwardian Baroque style, which creates a perfect contrast with the modern design of the rooms. There are many amenities on offer for the guests, from a spa to a bowling alley, a gym to an array of bars. The gym area as well as the pool and sauna are open from 6am everyday – which proved necessary due to early work wake-up calls. The pool area has a jacuzzi as well as a sauna and a steam room. The bowling alley provides a perfect opportunity to relax without having to leave the hotel.

There are three bars available, one of which is on the rooftop. Despite us coming back very late, the staff still made us our drinks and were exceptionally nice and polite. The downstairs bar is a must-see, as some of the seats are located in what used to be prison cells. The hotel has maintained the structure of the rooms and just decorated them, which gives a unique feel to the experience. A mention must also go to the breakfast: everything was delicious with countless options available.

The Courthouse Shoreditch is an amazing hotel offering comfortable, luxury accommodation. Every member of the team is remarkably professional; they assisted us when we were lost and did everything they could to satisfy our needs. This is a must-try place if you decide to visit London for work or fun.
