Five beach hairstyles we love

Five beach hairstyles we love

We get it, you’re on holiday and the last thing you want to do is fuss with your hair. So we are here to save the day with five beach hairstyles that are easy, pain-free and super cute. The only things you’ll need are: hairbands, crocodile clips, a brush, a mane of hair and the patience of a saint.

Halo braid

This braid may look complicated but we promise you that when you master it you will never want to stop wearing your hair like this – trust us, we’ve had our hair in braids for four months now. What you’ll need to do is separate your parting down the middle – if you wear a middle parting already then skip this step. Next, take one side and begin to plait it (we like starting out in a French braid because it tends to get tight to the head), and make sure to circle it around your head while you plait. When you’ve finished, pin that side to your head, and then repeat on the other side. Practise makes perfect with this one.

Double bun

This double bun is fun and easy, but it does have many variations. Right now, we are loving the French braid in the two low double buns. First step is to divide the parting down the middle of the head and then begin the French braid, remembering to keep it tight against the head, almost as if you’re pulling your hair together. When you have two French braids, the next step is wrapping the braid over itself to create a bun at the low side of the head. Tie with another hair band and you’re good to go.

Half up, half down with a vintage twist

After all the excitement with the various braids and buns we thought we’d give you an easier style to try. This is your typical half-up, half-down hair style, it is a reliable look that we all know and love. The vintage part of this look is the bouffant quiff that we will be adding. For those of you who know who Brigitte Bardot is then you will know that this is in tribute to her. First step is to brush back your hair, pull a section forward and begin to backcomb it; this will create that vintage bump we’re looking for. Spray the necessary amount of hairspray and dry shampoo, and then pin that down for a graceful bump. Next, gather up the rest of the hair to create the half-up, half-down element, and ta-da, you are now basically Brigitte Bardot herself.

Wrap around ponytail

We tried to make this list as varied, easy and as heat-free as possible, so because of that we also included the wrap around ponytail. We called it that because we aren’t too sure if it has an actual name. Anyway, what we need from you is to gather your hair into a ponytail, but make sure to leave a fairly thick piece out (preferably a strand from the bottom of the head). Tie your hair in your desired ponytail, and then take the loose strand and wrap it around the base, completely covering the hairband from sight.

Tousled locks

This look is going to be the easiest and most obvious of all, because when we first think of beach waves the thing which comes straight to mind is long, curly hair. So for this one all you need to do is plait your hair the night before. If you have thicker hair and you want quite voluminous curls then be sure to do multiple plaits, for example three or four, instead of the typical two. By the time you wake up in the morning your hair will look like the mermaid you’ve always dreamed of.
