The autumn/winter 2018 shows bought a plethora of vintage revivals. Where Burberry bought back their signature check, Fendi’s collaboration with Fila stunned with an abundance of their old school logos – then came Dior. Maria Grazia Chiuri sent models down the catwalk clutching a selection of the Nostalgic designs, all featuring a swinging “D” charm.

While it might bring back images of hipster jeans, flip phones and lip gloss key rings, the classic design was given a 2018 twist with multi-coloured patchwork material. Originally from the John Galliano-era, this is the second time that the handbag has been retrieved from the archives. The design had massive credibility in the noughties and was one of the most exclusive items to be seen with, lusted after the horse saddle-shaped micro bag and this is set to be the case in 2018.

Vintage bags have been the chosen aesthetic for many off-duty models and Kardashians. Kourtney and Kim made a strong case for a bit of vintage Prada nylon, Kendall opted for the vintage Louis Vuitton Alma BB bag last summer, mixing up the genres with some sportswear. But the Dior Saddle bag has been the most popular choice for many, with Bella Hadid proving its provenance with a denim version that screams throwback Thursday.

Available in multi-coloured patchwork, the iconic “D” logo or a chic leather option, the Saddle bag is back, episodes of The Simple Life and a Juicy Tube not essential, however.
