Kym’s celebrates Chinese New Year with a special five-course feast

To celebrate Chinese New Year 2020 and get the Year of the Rat into full swing, Kym’s in Bloomberg Arcade are offering a stunning lantern installation, limited edition celebration menu and a giveaway of 3,000 prize-filled fortune cookies.

Until the 9th February, the interiors will feature a spectacular display made up of traditional red lanterns, with hundreds adorning the ceiling of the main restaurant, mezzanine level and the bar with its bespoke cherry blossom tree. Symbolising harmony, happiness, vitality and wealth, red lanterns are believed to be auspicious and are displayed on important festivals and events throughout China such as the Lantern Festival and Chinese New Year.

In addition to this visual feast, Michelin-starred chef Andrew Wong has created an exclusive festive five-course menu to ring in the new year, available for £45. The menu begins with starters of colourful Prosperity Salad – a Cantonese-style raw salad with salmon topped with crunchy peanuts and plum sauce dressing – symbolising abundance, prosperity and vigour; followed by flavoursome Roasted Duck Jiaozi, or the vegetarian option of Wild Mushroom Jiaozi – traditional Chinese dumplings; then Black Truffled Pumpkin, Salted Duck Egg Emulsion and Fermented Olives.

For the main course, there is a choice of two sharing dishes from the following: Kym’s signature Three Treasures (crispy pork belly, Iberico char siu, slow-poached soy chicken); or the deliciously tender Seabass with Double Deluxe Soy and Ginger Spring Onion. For vegetarians, there are the alternative options of Buddha’s Delight (a winter vegetable hot pot with sweet potato, shiitake, kohlrabi and chestnuts) served with youtiao (a long, savoury doughnut); or Typhoon Shelter Mushroom. All mains are served with Longevity Noodles, Steamed Jasmine Rice and Stir-Fried Greens. To finish, guests can indulge in a choice of two desserts: the perfectly balanced Yuzu Layered Cake with Orange Sorbet and Ginger or a refreshing vegan Fuji Apple with Sorbet and Snow.

The restaurant team will also be on hand to distribute over 3,000 Kym’s fortune cookies to all lucky guests throughout Chinese New Year, filled with exclusive prizes including complimentary bottles of wine, free desserts and 25% off the recently launched Saturday Lobster Brunch.
