Chelsea’s new Italian restaurant, Fellini, opens to celebrate La Dolce Vita

A new restaurant opening in Chelsea on the 6th of May, Fellini promises to rejuvenate the London dining scene by infusing it with the true spirit of La Dolce Vita. Situated at 149 Draycott Avenue, the establishment brought to life by the team behind the iconic 90s Mayfair lounge, Paparazzi Café, will propoe an authentic Italian culinary experience that focuses on personal touch and valued relationships, echoing the cherished tradition of warm hospitality from the Mediterranean country.

The new venture is inspired by the team’s previous success with Paparazzi Café, which was known for its dedication to a genuine approach and recognition of customer loyalty. The restaurant welcomes guests from all walks of life, whether they are dining alone or in groups, ensuring everyone feels at home. The menu boasts a range of sharing options, making Fellini an ideal choice for any occasion, from a casual lunch to a leisurely afternoon or an intimate evening meal.

Fellini’s offerings are designed to be approachable yet refined, featuring a selection of classic dishes and specialities. Ingredients are meticulously sourced from Italy and across the UK, supporting a healthier, holistic approach to Italian cuisine. Highlights from the menu include the Fellini Primavera, a homemade aubergine and basil pesto with courgettes, and the vegan Ravioli Rossi, a spicy chickpea-filled pasta accompanied by a butter and sage sauce. The food list also includes a variety of fresh, main-sized salads, veg-forward pizzas with organic seasonal produce, and options for gluten-free dishes upon request.

The interior evokes the leisurely Italian summer lifestyle, offering a luxurious yet understated atmosphere. With seating for 75 inside and an additional 20 al fresco seats on a terrace set to open in June, the restaurant is adorned with olive trees, black and white photos of familiar faces in glossy black frames, and backlit banquet seating. A terrazzo marble bar extends along the room, inviting guests to enjoy an aperitif or digestif.

Owner Tony Aalam and his team are eager to welcome guests to Fellini, promising a return to the classic Italian hospitality of the 20th century with a focus on personal touch and timeless service. “Our commitment to Come Era Una Volta, or How It Used to Be, will be prevalent in the restaurant as we revive the personal touch of 20th-century Italy, delivering true hospitality and timeless service,” says Aalam.
