Michelin-starred Taku and Sollip join forces for one-night-only tasting menu

Two Michelin-starred London restaurants, Taku and Sollip, will collaborate for a one-night-only dining event in London on 16th June, bringing together the talents of Takuya Watanabe and Woongchul Park. The event aims to celebrate the creative connection between the chefs and showcase a 17-course tasting menu that blends their distinct culinary backgrounds.

Watanabe’s Taku specialises in innovative Japanese omakase, holding a Michelin star since 2023. The chef previously headed up Jin in Paris – the first sushi omakase in the city to receive a Michelin star. His London restaurant is known for its daily changing tasting menu, based on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Meanwhile, Park’s Sollip offers a fusion of Korean ingredients and European techniques, receiving its Michelin star in 2022. The restaurant was opened in 2020 by Woongchul Park and Bomee Ki, and was recently listed among Europe’s best.

The menu for the collaborative evening will be curated and executed by Taku’s head chef Long Ng, under the supervision of Watanabe, and will feature dishes such as Rolled Akami paired with ssamjang, Monkfish Wellington wrapped in oden-style scallop farce, perilla leaf and puff pastry, and Highland Wagyu Futomaki. Each course will be paired with selected wines and sake. The event will also feature desserts created by Bomee Ki, Sollip’s co-owner and pastry chef, who will present the Sancho Pavlova, a reinterpretation of the restaurant’s signature Perilla Pavlova.

According to the organisers, the collaboration is intended as “a celebration of culinary artistry and cultural exchange”, combining the signature styles of both restaurants. Lucas Leong, co-founder of Taku, commented: “I’m thrilled to present the collaboration between chef Long Ng and chef Takuya Watanabe and Sollip. Our teams have worked together to create a one-of-a-kind menu that focuses on the synergy of their culinary techniques, rather than simply recreating signature dishes in a different setting. This promises to be an exceptional evening for dedicated food enthusiasts – two Michelin-starred restaurants joining forces for one unforgettable night.”
