Kadeau to kick off World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 celebrations at Gardenia restaurant

Restaurant Kadeau, led by chef Nicolai Nørregaard, will inaugurate the official programme for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 celebrations with a special dinner on 17th June. The event, which marks the start of a week-long series of culinary activities, will take place at restaurant Gardenia in Caluso, a small town near Turin, and forms part of the 50 Best Signature Sessions, bringing together acclaimed international chefs with local Italian establishments.

Kadeau’s team will collaborate with resident chef, Mariangela Susigan, to present a joint tasting menu for the evening. The dinner, priced at €220 including wine, will be held at Gardenia’s historic location, a 19th-century house on Corso Torino. Reservations are being handled by the host restaurant.

The Signature Sessions, running from 17th to 21th June, are designed to offer guests the opportunity to experience the cuisine of restaurants featured on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in partnership with venues in Piedmont. Alongside Kadeau, other visiting restaurants include Arca from Tulum, Kjolle from Lima, Florilège from Tokyo, Le Doyenné from Saint-Vrain, Willem Hiele from Oudenburg and Atelier Moessmer Norbert Niederkofler from Brunico. Host restaurants in the region comprise Del Cambio, Piazza Duomo, Scatto, Azotea, Consorzio and Casa Vicina.

The collaborative menu for the opening dinner features dishes from both Kadeau and Gardenia, with items such as Summer Tomatoes, Blueberries, Blackcurrants and Hot & Cold Smoked Salmon, Onion & Lavender Butter from Kadeau, and Sponge of Sage and Wild Mint, Turmeric Mayonnaise and Ajuccas Ravioli, Beppe’s Toma Cheese, Hay Essence from Gardenia. The meal highlights the seasonal and local approach of both restaurants.

Founded in 2007 on the Danish island of Bornholm, Kadeau has established a reputation for its focus on local terroir and preservation techniques, earning a Michelin star on Bornholm and two Michelin stars at its Copenhagen location, along with the green stars for sustainability. Chef Nørregaard, who grew up on Bornholm, is recognised as one of the forerunners of the New Nordic movement, working with hyper-seasonal ingredients and traditional preservation methods.

Nørregaard and his co-owners, Kyumin Hahn and Magnus Kofoed, continue to champion a cuisine deeply connected to nature. “This way of cooking – very traditional in Bornholm – is what inspired Kadeau, and is the foundation of Nicolai’s cooking,” the team state.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 celebrations will continue throughout the week, culminating in the annual awards ceremony.
