Nobu Hotel London Portman Square unveils summer omakase and Japanese-inspired tea experiences

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square has launched a series of seasonal dining experiences for summer 2025, offering guests and visitors a curated selection of Japanese-inspired dishes and teas. Located in the heart of Marylebone, the hotel is presenting a new omakase menu and an exclusive afternoon tea and cream tea in partnership with ceremonial-grade matcha brand Jenki Matcha. The offerings are available to both hotel guests and the general public throughout the summer.

For a twist on the traditional English cream tea experience, Nobu’s version this summer serves plain and Jenki matcha scones with raspberry shiso jam, yuzu curd and clotted cream. A vegan option, Strawberry Kakigori, features shaved strawberry ice with matcha ice cream, Earl Grey tea jelly and fresh strawberries. Guests can choose from a range of teas such as English Breakfast, Jade Green and Botanical Calm, with an option to add sparkling wine, including alcohol-free and traditional varieties.

The afternoon tea menu, served in the hotel’s lounge, includes both classic and vegetarian options. Among the savoury items are Asparagus Dry Miso Skewers and sliders – either Nobu-style Wagyu or corn kara-age – depending on the menu selected. Desserts on offer are Mango Ginger Tart, Nobu Cheesecake and Homemade Mochi, and the tea selection incorporates Chinese and Japanese varieties such as Jasmine Pearls, Silver Needle, Kabuse Sencha and Earl Grey.

The restaurant’s Summer Omakase menu features a variety of dishes that highlight seasonal ingredients and Japanese culinary techniques. It begins with a Two Way Monaka – rice wafers filled with sweet bean paste – along with options such as Truffle New Style Salmon and Yellowtail Jalapeño Caviar. A highlight is the Kombu Marinated Seabass, served with a crab and avocado myoga salad and finished with a yuzu tosazu dressing. Additional items on the menu include the Scallop Martini, which combines shrimp and vodka, and Halibut Champagne Miso, paired with cucumber mint salsa. The hotel states that the menu is designed to offer “an adventurous combination of freshness” and a range of textures and flavours.
