Forbici to give away 500 free mini pizzas in Manchester city centre pop-up event

Manchester’s Cross Street-based pizzeria Forbici will be handing out 500 complimentary mini margherita pizzas over two days this month as part of an outdoor pop-up in St Ann’s Square. The giveaway will take place from 1pm this Saturday continuing until Tuesday or until supplies run out, with the aim of promoting the restaurant’s Neapolitan-style fare and introducing passers-by to its culinary approach.

The event, named Forbici Al Fresco, will feature a retro-style tricycle stationed in the city centre. On both days, 250 mini margherita pizzas will be distributed to the public, accompanied by complimentary sparkling Lurisia Aranciata orange sodas. The initiative coincides with the current warm weather and is intended to bring a taste of Naples to Manchester, billed as “a taste of Forbici’s authentic Neapolitan experience”. In addition to the free food and drink, staff will also be handing out vouchers offering 25% off meals at their Cross Street restaurant, encouraging attendees to explore the full menu in a sit-down setting.

The pizzeria, which opened recently, specialises in truly authentic examples of the popular dish. Its name – Italian for “scissors” – references its distinctive serving style: pizzas are cut into quarters with scissors, a tradition common in Naples. According to the business, their pies are crafted by “master pizzaiolos and fermentors” using ingredients sourced directly from Italy. The team describes its offering as rooted in tradition but made with scientific precision.

The pop-up comes amid increasing competition in Manchester’s growing independent food scene, with new restaurants and food concepts frequently launching across the city centre. Forbici’s decision to bring its product to the streets reflects a broader trend of experiential marketing and mobile food activations aimed at building brand awareness and customer loyalty.
