Chocolatier Pierre Marcolini to open Notting Hill boutique for 30th anniversary

Chocolatier Pierre Marcolini to open Notting Hill boutique for 30th anniversary

Belgian chocolatier Pierre Marcolini will open a new boutique in Notting Hill this September, marking the brand’s 30th anniversary. The shop, located on Westbourne Grove, will become the latest UK outpost for the luxury chocolate maker. The launch coincides with the Marcolini brand’s ongoing expansion in the UK, which already includes a shop in Marylebone and counters in Selfridges and Harrods. The new venue is intended to serve as a tranquil space for customers amid the busy surroundings of Portobello Road, Ladbroke Grove and Holland Park, incorporating a bespoke window display created in collaboration with Julien Colombier. The French artist specialises in vibrant, nature-inspired work, and this piece will reflect both his style and the origins of Marcolini’s cocoa.

A new seasonal range, the Gourmandises Collection, will be introduced for the opening, featuring treats such as Orangettes, milk chocolate Rochers, dark Croustillants and vanilla marshmallows coated in chocolate, each priced at £14.50 per box. A number of limited-edition products will also be available at the new location to coincide with the occasion, including a collector’s tin of four macaron recipes (Kiss-Kiss Choco, Crème Brûlée, Casse-Noisette and Chestnut-Blackcurrant), priced at £25.00, and a special version of the Kumo pastry, inspired by Marcolini’s travels to Japan, featuring hazelnut dacquoise sponge and São Tomé & Príncipe ganache, topped with a dark chocolate disc. A 30th Anniversary Box, retailing at £40 and presented as a keepsake, will contain 18 signature pieces, including pralines, truffles, Petits Bonheurs and the raspberry Coeur. The Westbourne Grove boutique will also offer freshly made ice cream and iced drinks, prepared at the counter, catering to both local residents and visiting tourists.

Marcolini, who was recently named Best Pastry Chef in the World, is commited to sourcing high-quality ingredients such as Iranian pistachios, Moroccan pink peppercorns and Piedmont hazelnuts. As an early adopter of sustainable practices and the “bean to bar” method, he oversees the entire chocolate-making process from sourcing to final product. Commenting on the opening, he said: “Notting Hill has always been a neighbourhood I’ve loved visiting, a cultural hub, full of creativity, which is at the centre of everything we do at the Maison. We are very excited to join the array of diverse food & drink offerings to resonate with local audiences, along with the widespread international visitors who travel from all over the world to visit this unforgettable destination.”
