Old Spitalfields Market launches Friday evening DJ sessions for August

Old Spitalfields Market in East London will host a new run of Friday evening DJ sessions for August, aiming to provide a relaxed, music-filled atmosphere for early evening crowds. The Happy Hours series will take place every Friday in August from 5 to 7pm, beginning on the first of the month and continuing until the 29th at The Kitchens, the market’s dedicated street food area.

The market, situated minutes from Liverpool Street Station, is launching the initiative as a way to draw in visitors during the summer. Organisers say the aim is to create “the ultimate after-work hangout” by combining music with the market’s existing food and drink offerings. The rotating selection of street food vendors will remain open throughout, with current options including Neapolitan pizza, gourmet kebabs, hand-pulled noodles and desserts such as blowtorched crumble. Live DJ sets will be curated by Re:Sonate, long-time collaborators with the market who are known for their musical programming, which in this case will offer a mix of feel-good classics and evening grooves.

Events are free to attend and will be held indoors, allowing the revels to go ahead regardless of weather conditions, with an atmosphere described as “sun-drenched vibes, killer DJ sets, ice-cold drinks and mouth-watering street food – all under one roof.” While the tone is clearly aimed at attracting a younger social crowd, The Happy Hours are open to all visitors.
