Ben Murphy to open 74 Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia

Acclaimed chef Ben Murphy will open a new restaurant in London this autumn (his first venture in the capital with WSH Restaurants). The establishment, named 74 Charlotte Street by Ben Murphy, is expected to offer a modern dining experience that blends classical culinary training with contemporary design and accessible pricing.

Murphy, a London native, has worked in prestigious kitchens including The Berkeley and Launceston Place, and this latest project reflects both his professional background and personal approach to food. “I am thrilled to be working with WSH Restaurants for 74 Charlotte Street. This restaurant isn’t just about fine dining, it’s about celebrating food that people simply love to eat and will make them smile, whatever the occasion, which this new menu achieves,” says the chef, “We want to serve food that’s seasonal, sustainable and full of flavour. Our aim is to make it a memorable experience, to ensure our guests visit time and time again.”

The restaurant will be led by Murphy and senior general manager Rosario Cappiello, and will open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Seating 75 guests, it has been designed by Chris Bagot Architects, featuring an open-plan layout with contemporary styling, natural light and a combination of local and Mediterranean plant arrangements. The space includes a curved staircase, a marble-topped bar and a scallop-shaped cocktail bar, aiming to provide a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.

The menu will include dishes such as Beef Wellington served with Braised Beefy Chips, Anchovy and Timur Pepper, and a Fig Leaf Soufflé with olive oil ice cream. An ice cream trolley will also circulate the dining room, offering a nostalgic touch. To accompany the food menu, there is a 300-bottle wine list showcasing a mix of established and emerging labels.

Alessandro Fasoli, managing director of WSH Restaurants, describes the project as a reflection of London’s developing food culture: “This is a restaurant that reflects not just Ben’s journey, but the evolving spirit of dining in London. We’re creating an accessible space where everyone feels welcome, offering great hospitality and excellence in service that makes every visit unforgettable.”
