Chef Kerth Gumbs brings Caribbean-inspired pop-up to Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room for Black History Month

Chef Kerth Gumbs brings Caribbean-inspired pop-up to Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room for Black History Month

Chef Kerth Gumbs is introducing a new dining experience to the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room Brasserie from 20th October to 30th November 2025. The pop-up, presented in collaboration with Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, will run in celebration of Black History Month and is available exclusively to Royal Albert Hall visitors.

Gumbs, who has previously appeared on BBC Two’s Great British Menu and is currently serving as Chef de Cuisine at Fenchurch Restaurant in London’s Sky Garden, has designed a limited-edition set menu inspired by his Anguillan roots. The offering presents Caribbean flavours through a contemporary lens, served as a pre-show dining option at one of London’s most iconic venues.

The menu opens with sourdough bread and whipped Marmite butter, followed by an amuse-bouche of pumpkin and butternut squash velouté with coconut dumplings, chive and chilli oil. Starters include options such as Curried Goat on warm pita with spring onion, carrot, coconut and coriander, or Grilled Spiced Fish Skewers with charred pineapple, guacamole, red onion salad, smoked mayo and trout roe.

Main courses feature Josper-grilled Venison Loin with curried celeriac, sweet potato fondant, salsify crisps and Madeira jus, and a Jerk Chicken Burger served with BBQ pineapple, rainbow slaw, scotch bonnet mayo and skin-on fries. Seafood and vegetarian options are also available, including Grilled Mackerel with tamarind glaze and a Spiced Kofta “sausage” Roll with maitake mushrooms and beetroot ketchup.

Side dishes comprise a twist on macaroni and cheese with smoked scamorza and cherry tomato salsa, Spiced Potato Wedges with jalapeño cheese sauce, and Caramelised Parsnips with crispy bacon and maple mayonnaise. Desserts count on Coconut Meringue Eton Mess with vanilla Chantilly, mixed berries and fig and sorrel coulis, or a Carrot Cake with candied ginger, carrot cream and salted white chocolate.

The two-course menu is priced at £54 per person, while the three-course option is £62, both including bread and an amuse-bouche. A children’s menu is also on offer.

The dining experience coincides with a varied autumn programme at the Royal Albert Hall, listing, among the many, performances by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and concerts from artists the likes of Westlife and Queens of the Stone Age.

Kerth Gumbs has nearly 20 years of culinary experience and has worked with chefs such as Tom Aikens and Jason Atherton. In 2020, he was named champion of the London and Southeast region on Great British Menu and was a judge on BBC Three’s Young MasterChef.
