Le Cordon Bleu London hosted its inaugural Alumni Chapter event last week at its restaurant, Cord, on Fleet Street, bringing together over 100 former students in celebration of the institute’s 130th anniversary. The occasion, designed to reconnect graduates and recognise their contributions to the wider food, media and hospitality sectors, marked a significant milestone for the prestigious culinary institution, which has campuses in more than 20 countries and over 35 schools worldwide. The gathering, though held in the heart of London, aimed to honour the global network of graduates from the school and included the launch of a new set of awards.

Founded in Paris in 1895, the institution has become one of the most recognised names in culinary arts and hospitality education. Its London campus offers a range of diploma and short courses in cuisine, pâtisserie, wine, nutrition and management. During last week’s event, attendees shared drinks and canapés while networking with fellow alumni from a variety of professional backgrounds. A highlight was the introduction of the Le Cordon Bleu London Alumni Awards, which were voted for by members of the institution’s far-reaching community.

Winners included Woongchul Park and Bomee Ki, the husband-and-wife team behind Michelin-starred restaurant Sollip, who received the award for Contribution to Gastronomy & Fine Dining. Kerth Gumbs, chef at Fenchurch Restaurant and known for his television appearances, was recognised for his Contribution to Food & Media. Meanwhile, Charlotte O’Kelly, founder of Astrid Bakery, was applauded for Entrepreneurship, and Maciej Pisarek, demi pastry chef de partie at The Savoy, received the Alumni Choice Award. The Le Cordon Bleu Ambassador Award went to Salina Campbell, founder of the restaurant Joli.

Emil Minev, culinary arts director at Le Cordon Bleu London, commented on the significance of the occasion: “This was a truly special moment in our 130-year history. The Alumni Chapter eventdemonstrated the power of the Le Cordon Bleu network – a family of graduates who have applied their skills and creativity in kitchens, bakeries, hotels and businesses around the world. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and look forward to growing this tradition in years to come.”
