Chef Ivan Orkin is opening his first permanent restaurant in the UK on 19th November, following a successful pop-up event in the capital earlier this year. The new venue, located on Farringdon Road in Clerkenwell, marks the latest chapter in Orkin’s international culinary career, and is expected to be the first of several Ivan Ramen locations across the country.

The 26-seat restaurant will serve a selection of signature dishes, including Tonkotsu, Chicken Paitan, Spicy Miso Ramen and Kara-age Chicken. A new option created specifically for the London menu comes in the form of a Salt Beef Bao, which draws inspiration from the traditional East End salt beef bagel. It features warm salt beef, pickled cucumbers and karashi mustard mayonnaise. The full selection will be available for dine-in and delivery through major platforms.

Ivan Orkin, a New York native, rose to prominence in Japan after opening his first ramen shop in Tokyo in 2007. His success as a foreign chef in Japan’s competitive industry earned him critical acclaim and a loyal following. In 2013, he brought his concept to New York City, where Ivan Ramen became known for its cross-cultural approach to Japanese cuisine. Orkin’s story was then featured in Netflix’s documentary series Chef’s Table, further cementing his reputation as a global ramen authority.

“Tokyo, New York… and now London! What an incredible honour to share our food in three of the world’s most iconic cities,” said Orkin. “London isn’t just a world-class restaurant destination. It is home to one of the most exciting ramen scenes anywhere. I’ve always loved this city, and I’m beyond thrilled to finally be a part of it.”

The London opening is being facilitated by Sessions, a company founded in 2020 by former Deliveroo executive Dan Warne, which supports the growth of original food brands through brand development, franchising and digital platforms.

“Bringing Ivan Ramen – created by one of the world’s most celebrated ramen chefs – to the UK is a milestone for Sessions,” said Warne. “Showcasing Ivan’s globally acclaimed ramen alongside our growing portfolio of original brands reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class food to new audiences.”
