The Idler in Victoria offers seasonal British cuisine and Mediterranean-inspired deli

A new all-day restaurant and deli, The Idler, has opened in Victoria, London, offering seasonal British cuisine with Mediterranean influences. Located on Vauxhall Bridge Road, the venue aims to serve both local residents and visitors to the area, which is close to several of the capital’s well-known theatres and landmarks.

The restaurant’s menu spans breakfast through to dinner, with a focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Breakfast options include a continental buffet featuring organic yoghurts, homemade granola, fresh pastries and fruit, alongside cooked dishes such as a traditional English Breakfast, Eggs Royale, and a Confit Pork Belly Sandwich.

The all-day menu is divided into starters and mains categorised under Land, Sea, and Earth. The first section includes Anchovies with Garlic and Parsley, Grilled Octopus with Romesco, and White Onion and Truffle Arancini. Main dishes range from Herdwick Lamb Rump with Jersey Royals and Rocket Pesto, to Pan-fried Sea Bream with fennel mint salad. Desserts comprises Crème Fraîche Panna Cotta with strawberries and basil, and Chocolate Tonka Mousse with thyme shortbread.

The drinks list presents a large variety of options for cocktails, wine, beer, and low-alcoholic glasses.

The deli, accessible to both residents of The July and the general public, offers warm Sourdough Focaccia Sandwiches, coffee, and a selection of artisanal ingredients. Until the end of the year, also, the space will host a pop-up by DELLI, an online marketplace for independent food producers. The pop-up will feature a rotating selection of goods from small British makers, including Fatso Chocolate, Honest Toil Olive Oil, and Piggy’s Hot Honey.

The Idler is situated within The July, a serviced apartment complex, and comprises both a full-service restaurant and a deli. The venue includes three private dining rooms, which are available for hire for events and celebrations.
