The Marquee Moon supper club returns with Matt Purkis of Play with Fire for Mexican menu and DJ set in Dalston

The Marquee Moon supper club returns with Matt Purkis of Play with Fire for Mexican menu and DJ set in Dalston

Dalston venue Marquee Moon will host the second instalment of its supper club series next Thursday, featuring guest chef Matt Purkis of Play with Fire. The event, which begins at 7pm at the bar and restaurant located on Stoke Newington Road, will offer a four-course smoked-Mexican menu paired with El Rayo Tequila cocktails. The evening will conclude with a DJ set by Twiceasnice resident DJ Supreme, playing R&B and festive tracks into the night.

Purkis previously collaborated with Marquee Moon during its summer Deli Series pop-up, and was invited back by head chef Huri Rapana Neil for this winter edition, following a positive response. Known for his work with Ibai and Lagom, the chef will bring his signature open-fire cooking style with a “low-intervention, live-fire approach [that] champions quality ingredients and charcoal-driven flavour”. His menu will focus on live-fire techniques and charcoal-based flavours, incorporating dishes such as flame-grilled snacks, tacos and a smoked short rib main. Dessert will also be prepared over the fire.

The supper club series, launched in September with a debut event featuring @ronnys_og, is a new initiative from Marquee Moon, a restaurant and cocktail bar that also features a high-fidelity sound system. The venue is operated by the team behind The Cause and All My Friends and is known for its eclectic food menu and late-night music programming.

Tickets for the supper club are priced at £50 and include four courses, with the option to pair each dish with an El Rayo Tequila cocktail. The evening is fully ticketed, and guests are advised to book in advance.
