On 20th December, Barcelona’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant Lasarte will host a collaborative dinner featuring Paolo Casagrande and Mauro Uliassi. Taking place at Lasarte’s location in the city centre, the evening brings together two of Europe’s most acclaimed culinary figures in a special one-night-only service with the aim of celebrating their longstanding professional friendship and shared culinary philosophies.

Casagrande, executive chef at Lasarte, and Uliassi, head chef of the eponymous three-star restaurant in Senigallia, Italy, first met in 2003 at Martín Berasategui’s renowned establishment in the Basque Country. Their encounter sparked a professional exchange that has endured for over two decades, with the stars and their ideas moving between San Sebastián, Barcelona and Senigallia. According to the organisers, the collaboration is a tribute to this connection and their mutual respect for precision, product quality and coastal culinary identity.

The event will feature a tasting menu that combines signature dishes from both experts. Uliassi is expected to present plates that reflect his Adriatic roots and contemporary techniques, while Casagrande will contribute dishes that exemplify Lasarte’s refined and minimalist style. The menu is designed to reflect the chefs’ differing but complementary approaches, both shaped by Mediterranean influences. “This special menu will intertwine emblematic creations from both houses,” the organisers said. “Crafted together, the menu promises a meeting point between two coastlines and two visions shaped by the same sea.”

Seats for the dinner are limited, and it is expected to draw significant attention from both local and international diners. It also serves as a prelude to Lasarte’s 20th anniversary celebrations in 2026, during which the team plans to highlight the people and moments that have defined its history.
