On Saturday 28th March, Jonny Lake, chef-owner of Trivet in Bermondsey, will host a collaborative dinner with Aret Sahakyan, executive chef of Maçakızı Restaurant in Bodrum, Turkey. The event will take place at Trivet, which holds two Michelin stars, and will feature a menu jointly created by both chefs in a collaboration that aims to showcase the culinary philosophies of each establishment, combining Aegean-inspired New Mediterranean cuisine with the London venue’s globally-influenced approach.

Sahakyan is regarded as a significant figure in contemporary Turkish cuisine. With a career spanning several decades, he has played a key role in developing Bodrum’s reputation as an international gastronomic destination. Under his leadership, Maçakızı became the first restaurant in the city to receive a Michelin star – a milestone attributed to the chef’s focus on ingredient-driven cooking and refined culinary techniques.

For the one-night event, Sahakyan will join Lake in the kitchen to prepare a multi-course menu. The dinner will begin with snacks such as Trivet’s Puffini and Wild Garlic Gougère, followed by dishes including Wild Seabass Crudo and Turkish Rice with Sea Urchin. The menu also features a Mantı Sunchoke Dumpling, Veal Sweetbread with Turkish Spices, Turbot in a Bread Crust with Geranium Sauce and Pigeon with Persimmon. It will conclude with Trivet’s signature Turkish Breakfast Dessert.

The collaboration is intended to be a meeting of two food cultures. According to the team, the menu is designed to “honour the ethos of both restaurants,” bringing together Maçakızı’s Mediterranean influences and Trivet’s contemporary, internationally-inspired cooking style.

While the evening is exclusive, it is open to members of the public who purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are priced at £165.
