Kingly Court brings free live music to Soho with month-long April residency

A new free-to-attend live music residency, Kingly Court Presents: Soho Sounds, will launch in the iconic Kingly Court courtyard on Carnaby Street this April. The event, organised in partnership with Soho Radio, will run every Thursday to Sunday throughout the month, beginning on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. 

The music programme will feature a mix of DJs and live acoustic performances, with sets taking place from 5 to 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 1 to 5pm on the weekends. The show will open on Thursday 2^nd April with performances from Iraina Mancini and Noble & Heath. followed by Matt Smooth and Imaginary Millions on Friday, while Saturday and Sunday will feature artists including Karim Bitar, Bror Havnes, Miles Wonderfulsound, Amie Fretter, Sunny Reyne, Kitty Liv, Sir Ramble and Rebecca Herrington. A highlight of the month-long residency will be a special all-day party on Saturday 18^th April to mark Record Store Day, when guest DJs will take over the decks for a celebration of vinyl culture.

Kingly Court’s three-storey, open-air courtyard will also be open during performances for food and drinks, and visitors can order from the range of ground-floor restaurants while enjoying the music. Among the many options are wood-fired skewers and twice-cooked fries from Goldies, and a daily Vermouth Hour from 5 to 6.30pm (except Sundays and Mondays) at ALTA, where vermouth and Basque-inspired pintxos are only £5 each. Upstairs, Donia serves Filipino sharing plates, Darjeeling Express offers North Indian and Bengali cuisine, and Two Floors operates as a Japanese listening bar and cocktail den. There’s more in the basement, where cocktail bar Disrepute stays open till 3am, and Imad’s Syrian Kitchen offers Middle Eastern classics – plus a complimentary prosecco or a soft drink with the code “APRIL” before 6pm, Thursday to Sunday.

Beyond Kingly Court, the local area is also getting involved with activities and promotions during the April holidays. For families, “uncoventional Japanese” restaurant Inko Nito, on Broadwick Street, will let kids eat for free, and Kolamba on Kingly Street has a £9 Little Lankan menu. For sweet treats, visitors can enjoy Big Kid Ice Cream on Kingly Street and Donutelier on Carnaby Street, and for even more entertainment, Cahoots in Kingly Court is launching its Midnight Rye Society singalong series on Thursday 2^nd.

The shops are also on board. Miffy on Newburgh Street is offering 30% off selected items and hosting an in-store Easter egg hunt. Down the road, Charlotte Tilbury on Great Marlborough Street is promoting spring beauty products ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

This exciting line-up is part of a broader effort by Shaftesbury Capital, who manage the property portfolio in the West End. They aim to create “thriving destinations […] where people enjoy visiting, working and living” – and it looks like they’ve got April covered!
