Il Sereno celebrates tenth anniversary with new lakeside dining, wellness ritual and Alpine hotel partnership
Lake Como’s Il Sereno hotel has reopened for its new season, introducing a candlelit outdoor dining concept, an expanded musical partnership with a Swiss Alpine hotel and anniversary programming to mark a decade since the property first opened its doors in 2016.
Il Sereno, which holds the top spot for Lake Como in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2025 and was also awarded two Michelin Keys last year, will mark the anniversary with special experiences running throughout the year, including a celebratory tasting menu at its Michelin-starred restaurant, Il Sereno Al Lago and a new cocktail collection at the Lobby Bar.
A new dining experience
The most notable addition for the 2026 season is Al Tramonto, a new outdoor dining venue positioned just beyond the hotel’s terrace with direct views over the lake. Limited to five tables and available strictly by reservation, the space operates subject to weather conditions and is designed to offer an intimate setting for evening dining as the sun descends behind the surrounding mountains.
The menu has been created by executive chef Raffaele Lenzi, whose approach at Il Sereno Al Lago is characterised by seasonal Italian produce and restrained contemporary technique. “I want guests to leave feeling satisfied yet light,” Lenzi has said of his culinary philosophy. “The desire to return should always be there.” Al Tramonto extends that ethos into a more informal, atmospheric setting.
Lake-to-Lake
Il Sereno has announced a new partnership with Kulm Hotel St Moritz, creating what the two properties are calling their Lake-to-Lake experience. The itinerary connects Lake Como with the Swiss Alps via a scenic driving route in either vintage cars or high-performance supercars.
Guests travel with a specially curated soundtrack composed by Arman Naféei, directeur d’ambiance at Kulm Hotel St. Moritz, designed to accompany the landscape as it changes across the Alpine crossing. The full experience includes two nights at each property, incorporating wellness, dining and destination activities at both locations.
Anniversary programme at Il Sereno Al Lago
Later in the season, Il Sereno Al Lago will introduce a dedicated tasting menu commemorating the hotel’s ten years. The menu will feature dishes drawn from Lenzi’s tenure at the restaurant alongside new creations developed specifically for the occasion.
Spa and wellness
The Il Sereno Spa by Valmont is offering a new treatment for 2026 called the Crystal Serenity Ritual. It combines massage techniques with semi-precious stones and is offered across three personalised pathways – Relax, Balance or Energy – allowing guests to tailor the regimen to their requirements.
The Darsena Listening Suite
The hotel’s Darsena Listening Suite, an acoustically engineered space inspired by Japanese listening rooms, continues to feature as one of Il Sereno’s more distinctive features. The suite houses vintage vacuum tube amplifiers, restored reel-to-reel players and a vinyl collection curated by the hotel’s owner, Luis Contreras. The room, furnished with bespoke walnut fittings and a round table designed by Patricia Urquiola, can also be used as a private reception space for up to ten guests.
Boat trips on the iconic lake
Il Sereno’s wider guest programme includes private boat excursions to locations including Villa Balbianello and Villa Pliniana in Torno, as well as access to the hotel’s own fleet. This includes the Vaporina del Lago, with interiors by Patricia Urquiola, the Inglesina and three custom-built self-driven Jetto boats crafted by Cantiere Ernesto Riva. Vintage car tours through lakeside villages including Bellagio and Menaggio are also available.
