Petersham Nurseries announces midsummer Fireside Dinners with open-fire cooking and live music in Richmond gardens

Petersham Nurseries will hold a series of midsummer dinner gatherings in the gardens of Petersham House in Richmond on 24^th, 25^th and 26^th June, marking the period just after the summer solstice with open-fire cooking, communal dining and live music. The evenings will be led by chefs Gherardo Gaetani (known as Baru) and Fabrizio Bartloli, who are returning after the success of last year’s event, alongside the wider culinary team at Petersham Nurseries.

The gatherings are timed to make the most of the long daylight hours that follow the solstice, with the revels beginning in the early evening and stretching on till after dark. Guests will be received in the gardens with a welcome cocktail before being seated at a shared table arranged among the planted borders. The fire will then be lit to signal the start of the meal.

The menu has been built around seasonal summer produce, with dishes prepared over open flame to incorporate elements of smoke and fire. The four-course fireside dinner will be accompanied by wines selected from the Petersham Cellar.

As the evening progresses from daylight into dusk, candles and firelight will provide the principal lighting, while live acoustic music is scheduled to provide even more atmosphere in the darker hours. Guests are encouraged to remain at the communal table for as long as they like, in keeping with the relaxed pace of a long summer evening.

Tickets for each of the three dates cover the welcome cocktail in the gardens, the four-course dinner with paired wines and the live music programme. The number of places at the table is limited, lending a small-scale and exclusive vibe to the occasion, with early bookings strongly encouraged.
