Farringdon’s Ivan Ramen introduces cool summer menu just in time for next heatwave
Ivan Ramen, the Japanese restaurant in Farringdon founded by chef Ivan Orkin, has launched a new summer menu, available now, that includes cold dishes for the warmer weather.
The centrepiece of the new offering is Cold Sesame Noodles, made with the restaurant’s thick mazemen noodles that are tossed in a cold sesame broth and topped with pulled chilli chicken, red peppers, coriander, spring onions and sesame seeds. While ramen is typically eaten throughout the year, the restaurant said the cold dish is aimed at customers who prefer lighter options during the summer.
The menu also features a Pastrami Bun, described as a bao bun filled with New York-style pastrami, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing – a nod to Orkin’s connection to the city. Also new on the list is a Miso Chicken Caesar Salad, served with pangrattato and parmesan cheese.
Ivan Ramen was founded by Orkin (who has appeared on the Netflix series Chef’s Table) in Tokyo, before expanding to New York. The London outpost opened in November 2025 and has since has established a presence in the city’s dining scene, drawing both regular customers and first-time visitors.
This latest updated menu follows a change in the way the restaurant operates, having moved to a tachigui-style service model – a standing-counter format common in Japanese ramen bars. The new model is designed to speed up service and reflect the casual, counter-based dining culture that’s so popular in Japan, where ramen bars are a regular part of daily life. Existing dishes remain on the menu, including favourites such as the Shoyu ramen, the spicy miso red chilli ramen and the Tori Paitan, as well as Karaage fried chicken and chicken gyoza.
