London bakery launches Three Lions doughnuts ahead of football quarter-final tomorrow

Bombolone Doughnuts has released a limited-edition range decorated with the famous three Three Lions design to coincide with England’s quarter-final football match this Saturday. The London bakery, near Trafalgar Square, is offering the treats for pre-order and collection in the run-up to the game, with the aim of providing a fun food option for supporters hosting watch parties.

The doughnuts are Italian brioche-style, cream-filled bomboloni made at the premises each morning from 4am. Available flavours include matcha, pistachio, apple pie, blueberry and tiramisu, and each is topped with a handmade Three Lions design – perfect as a centrepiece for viewing gatherings.

The bakery and café was founded last September by couple Sonia and Paweł Sipta, achieving a number one bakery ranking on Tripadvisor within a month of opening. They specialise in Italian-style baked goods with a selection that runs from doughnuts (with exciting varieties such as Pistachio Amore, Mama Mia Tiramisu and Dolce Cheesecake), to brioche sandwiches. The business has attracted quite a bit of buzz, and has been featured in coverage by publications including Condé Nast Traveller, Squaremeal, LDNFASHION and Taste London.

The Matchday Doughtnut is available to pre-order from the bakery’s website in boxes of six, priced at £24 per box, with a deadline of 4pm on Friday 10th July for final orders. Customers can choose either to have them delivered anywhere in London or to pre-order for collection in person. There will also be a limited number to buy directly from the shop on Whitcomb Street on Saturday before the match, subject to availability, though the bakery recommends booking in advance for collection.

The Matchday Doughnuts are available to order from 9th until 10th July 2026 online or at Bombolone Doughnuts, 21 Whitcomb Street, London WC2H 7HA. For further information or to order, visit the bakery’s website here.
