Shake Shack unveils tropical Island Menu with coconut chicken and piña colada shake

Shake Shack UK has introduced a new tropical-themed menu, available at its restaurants nationwide from now until 23rd September as a “refreshing escape” from the sweltering summer.

The popular fast food brand serves “versions of American classics” – made-to-order Aberdeen Angus beef burgers, potato buns using flour from Wildfarmed, crispy chicken, hand-spun milkshakes, house-made lemonades, beer and wine – and has a rolling programme of short-term themed selections. This one, dubbed the Island Menu, brings coconut-crusted chicken dishes and tropical-inspired drinks. The Island Chicken is a crispy coconut chicken breast served over tropical slaw with habanero mayonnaise and a sweet chilli glaze, and a smaller version, the Island Chicken Bites, comes in the form of fried chicken pieces tossed with hot spice and the same glaze. On the side there are Island Fries – crinkle-cut chips topped with habanero mayonnaise, cherry peppers and hot spice.

For drinks, Shake Shack has created a special Piña Colada Shake made from vanilla frozen custard blended with coconut and pineapple, then topped with whipped cream and a pineapple and cherry umbrella skewer. Then there’s the Sparkling Passion Fruit Mojito, which combines passion fruit with the company’s house-made sparkling lemonade and fresh mint.

The chain describes its purpose as to Stand for Something Good, a trademarked phrase it applies to areas including its ingredients, employee development, restaurant design and community investment. The first Shake Shack opened in 2004 in New York City’s Madison Square Park. Since then, the company has expanded to more than 695 locations worldwide, including over 450 sites across 35 US states and the District of Columbia, and more than 245 international locations in cities including London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo and Seoul.

This summer’s dedicated tropical menu is available at all UK branches with the exception of Gatwick Airport (where only the drinks are on offer) and the Manchester Delivery Kitchen, as well as for delivery via Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat.
