The Barbary Notting Hill launches Kitchen Counter wine dinner series with Billecart-Salmon champagne pairing

The Barbary Notting Hill on Westbourne Grove will host the first event in its Kitchen Counter wine dinner series on Tuesday 4th August, featuring the French champagne house Billecart-Salmon. The exclusive, one-night only event is limited to just 15 seats, starting at 7pm.

Dinner will centre on a five-course menu developed in collaboration with the winemaker and Fabrizio di Pasquale, head of wine at The Barbary. It’s designed to pair with a selection of champagnes, beginning with magnums of brut réserve and continuing through vintage cuvées, rosé and demi-sec. Each course has been matched to a corresponding bottle, with the food drawing on the cuisine of the Barbary Coast, a culinary tradition that spans Southern Europe and North Africa.

The Barbary opened originally in Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden before expanding to Notting Hill. The kitchen places an emphasis on grilled dishes and shared plates, reflecting influences from the North African and Mediterranean regions. Meanwhile, partner for the evening the Billecart-Salmon champagne house is based in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ in the Champagne region of France. Founded in 1818, it remains family-owned and retains a long-standing reputation in the industry, distributing wines internationally.

The Kitchen Counter series aims to bring together the restaurant’s culinary offering and its wine programme through a sequence of paired dinners, and this is the opening instalment.  Guests can expect to be seated at the counter, allowing them to observe the preparation of each course as it is served alongside the corresponding tipple from the Billecart-Salmon portfolio. Tickets are priced at £150 per person, to include the five-course tasting menu and the full wine pairing.
