Jenki whisks up matcha burger box with Supernova ahead of Soho bar launch

Matcha company Jenki will take over the Soho burger restaurant Supernova for two days over the August bank holiday weekend, on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August, introducing matcha-based dishes to the burger spot’s menu ahead of the opening of their own Soho bar on 3rd September.

The collaboration will see the two businesses – soon to be neighbours – offer a limited-edition box, titled The Neighbourhood Serve, containing a choice of Supernova burger, fries served with matcha mayonnaise, a matcha lemonade and matcha soft serve. Only 200 boxes will be available on each of the two days. Alongside the offer, Jenki staff will whisk matcha on site at Supernova throughout the weekend, and the restaurant will be given a full makeover for the duration, with co-branded packaging, window artwork, menus and team T-shirts.

The event serves as an introduction to the neighbourhood ahead of Jenki’s own launch a few days later. In the spirit of the occasion, each Neighbourhood Serve box will also include a Scratch and Win card, with prizes to be redeemed at both Jenki Soho and Supernova, giving customers a reason to visit either after the takeover ends.

Matcha, the powdered green tea traditionally associated with Japanese tea ceremonies, has become an increasingly common feature on British menus in recent years, moving beyond lattes and into food applications ranging from baked goods to savoury condiments. The matcha mayonnaise accompaniment to Supernova’s fries represents one of the more unusual applications!
