Michelin-starred House of Tides brings Newcastle flair to London’s Solaya for one night only

Kenny Atkinson’s Michelin-starred Newcastle restaurant House of Tides will take over the kitchen at Solaya, the French Mediterranean restaurant on the 25th floor of Art’otel London Hoxton, on Wednesday 7th October, bringing a five-course tasting menu to the capital for a single evening. Atkinson, who serves as concept chef at Solaya, will travel south with his House of Tides team for the collaboration, which marks a rare London appearance for the Newcastle Quayside restaurant.

The menu, priced at £95 per person, with optional wine pairings at £70 or £95, has been curated specifically for the evening and draws on the seasonal approach that has characterised House of Tides since it opened in February 2014. Listed dishes include Steamed Lindisfarne Oyster with Bonito Butter Sauce, Caviar and Walnut, then there’s Pan-Roasted Sea Bass with Cauliflower, Ajo Blanco, Pickled Grapes and Sea Herbs and a Slow-Roasted Saddle of Highland Venison with Smoked Beetroot, Salsify and Blackberry. A Dark Chocolate and Hazelnut Mousse rounds off the meal. There will also be a vegetarian version available, with dishes to be announced.

House of Tides was opened by Abbie and Kenny Atkinson in a Grade I listed 16th-century former merchant’s townhouse on Newcastle’s historic Quayside. The couple aimed to create a casual and informal space where diners would feel comfortable and relaxed without compromising on culinary quality. The restaurant received its Michelin star in 2015 and has retained it since.

Kenny’s first solo London venture, Solaya opened in September 2025 and sits on the 25th floor of the hotel, making it the highest restaurant in Shoreditch. The venue serves seasonal plates inspired by the cooking of Southern France and the Mediterranean, with a range designed for sharing alongside a cocktail list and a wine selection drawn from France and the wider Mediterranean. A 360-degree circular layout provides views across the London skyline, and two balconies are available for private hire throughout the year.

The takeover forms part of a wider trend for one-off chef collaborations and residencies, which allow regional restaurants to reach diners in other cities without committing to a move. For House of Tides, the evening offers London diners access to a kitchen that has held its Michelin star for a decade, in a lofty setting down South.
