The Mandrake to descend into Dante’s Inferno for Fitzrovia Halloween spectacular
The Mandrake hotel in Fitzrovia will host a Halloween event themed on Dante’s Divine Comedy on 31st October, with the five-star boutique property on Newman Street given over to an immersive reimagining of the 13th-century Italian poet’s Inferno. The night will combine large-scale installations, opera, live performance, Renaissance-inspired tableaux vivants and theatrical encounters staged across the hotel, followed by a club night running until the early hours.
The centrepiece of the evening is a dining experience titled The Nine Circles of Hell, a nine-course tasting menu inspired by Dante’s vision of the underworld. The menu has been created by Viktor Yordanov, head chef at the hotel’s signature restaurant YOPO Zaytoun, and will be punctuated by two live performances and theatrical interventions. Dishes include Octopus with Lime Dressing, Black Garlic Cream and Squid Ink Cracker, an A5 Wagyu Steak with Potato and Pumpkin Terrine, Black Truffle and Bordelaise and Chocolate Mousse with Caramel, Spicy Crumble and Vanilla Liqueur de Cacao.
After dinner, the hotel switches to a party format with a line-up of DJs performing through midnight and beyond. Sets are scheduled from Jacob Groening, Hen Yanni, Cameron Jack and Nikolina, with Turkish producer Oceanvs Orientalis headlining. Guests are expected to attend in costume, with the organisers describing the crowd itself as part of the spectacle.
Overnight packages are also available. The Descent includes a one-night stay and Halloween entry for two people, while The Ascension combines a one-night stay with entry to both the Nine Circles of Hell dining experience and the party. An intravenous recovery treatment can be added to either stay.
Founded by entrepreneur and art collector Rami Fustok, The Mandrake opened in 2017 with 33 rooms and suites plus a penthouse. The hotel runs an ongoing programme of artists, performances, exhibitions and events, and its food and drink offering includes YOPO Zaytoun, which draws on Eastern Mediterranean cooking, Jurema Terrace, a plant-filled open-air space serving seasonal dishes and cocktails, and Waeska Bar, an ethnobotanical cocktail bar built around herbs and botanicals. The property also houses DAMU, a wellness area featuring mud caves, healing rituals and The Origin Pool, described as the world’s first multi-sensory, zero-gravity wellness experience, alongside COOC, a private members’ space centred on cultural programming.
The Halloween event follows previous similar parties at the hotel that have been themed around Samhain and a haunted baroque manor, featuring DJ sets from Deer Jade, Madmotormiquel and Alma Linda. Tickets are tiered, with general admission starting at £150, the dinner experience plus entry from £250, room packages from £644 and VIP tables from £1,500.
