Prince Arthur pub to leave Belgravia roots behind for new Chelsea restaurant and music bar

Prince Arthur, the Basque-influenced dining room previously housed within a pub at 11 Pimlico Road in Belgravia, will open at a new site in Chelsea at the end of September, trading as a restaurant and bar rather than a pub. The venue, at 96 Draycott Avenue, occupies a corner building across two floors and is the brainchild of founder Artur Voloshin, who aims to develop the concept beyond its original bounds.

The ground floor will house the restaurant, seating up to 79 guests, with floor-to-ceiling arch-shaped windows across two walls and a fire positioned in the centre of the dining room to echo the kitchen’s wood-fired grill. A further 16 covers will be available outside, wrapping around the corner of the building. Upstairs, the Chelsea Music Bar will operate as a late-night music and cocktail lounge, with a long bar, low-level seating and a programme drawing on vinyl-led selections and live performances, taking its cue from Tokyo’s listening bars.

Adam Iglesias returns as head chef, having previously led the kitchen in Belgravia, where the restaurant was recognised in the Michelin Guide for two consecutive years. He will oversee the next stage of the menu, which will be seasonal and ingredient-led, cooked over live fire using Basque techniques.

Seafood will be served from a counter, allowing diners to select individual fish, in a format closer to classic European dining. There will be caviar produced on site, and both meat and fish will be dry-aged in-house. Several dishes carried over from Belgravia will remain, including sea urchins, txuleta, carabineiros, whole turbot and lobster rice.

The wine list will focus on Spanish and French producers. Guinness, which the Belgravia site became known for, will continue to be poured through the same specialist lines and system used in Irish pubs.

Voloshin said: “Prince Arthur’s restaurant chapter at 11 Pimlico Road has been an incredibly important part of our journey. We are immensely proud of what the team created in Belgravia and grateful to every guest, neighbour, supplier and member of staff who supported us there.”

He added: “We don’t see this new chapter in Chelsea as us moving Prince Arthur – instead we are taking the concept of Prince Arthur and developing it further in a new location. Our customers can expect the same quality of dining – if not better – in an updated form of Prince Arthur’s brand, with some exciting new additions and tweaked concept.”

The restaurant will open Tuesday and Wednesday from 5pm to 10pm, Thursday to Saturday from midday to 11pm and Sunday from midday to 8pm, closing on Mondays. The Chelsea Music Bar will trade Thursday to Saturday, 5pm to 1am.
