The English summer might be turning into a big joke, but there is a way to escape it and enjoy some tropical colours without even stepping out. Interested? We are talking about Modern Love, a label characterised by bold yet subtle graphic prints that will definitely inject some colour and happiness to your wardrobe.

Modern Love is the ultimate collaboration between designer and artist Sarah Arnett and fashion editor and consultant Kim Hunt. It is an unabashed fusion of influences, whether it’s Paris of the 30s, New York disco of the 70s or a marriage of bold tropical designs with subtle country garden prints.

Arnett, who has been an illustrator, interior designer and fashion designer is the product of Brighton University and is the creative brain while Hunt, who has been a fashion editor for almost thirty years, looks after the business side of things. Together they bring out a label that is beautiful, feminine, yet which is ethical and responsible to the environment. Of course, reference to legendary musician David Bowie and his hit number Modern love has already earned some brownie points from us!

For SS12, Modern Love has come up with a mix of tropical and country garden prints and is described as earthy African hues meets the soft English sky. Arnett is inspired by the big African sunshine and her love for softer South-Downs environment. The collection is eclectic, vibrant and with plenty of attitude.

We love this belted cape dress in summer garden print (£310.00). A special dress for those special occasions, the dress is made of silk georgette and comes with a jersey under-dress. This can be worn sleeveless, or with the arms inside with the cape flowing over the top. The uneven hemline gives it playfulness and it can be made more structured with a belt over the waist. Versatile just got better.Belted Cape Dress

This T-shirt dress (£395.00) in vibrant jungle print will make you the undisputed queen of the jungle. The neckline can be worn different ways – in front as a cowl or off the shoulder. Wear it on its own or with pencil trousers and heels for extra pizzazz.T Shirt Dress

This blue lava jersey pencil skirt (£295.00) is another piece to covet, coming with a wide waistband and ruched back detail. The skirt is fully lined in soft power net and gives you a perfect fit and a great shape.Jersey Skirt

The label is certainly not cheap, but neither is it available on the high street, every Modern Love garment is made to order which perhaps justifies the cost. The label is exclusively available at Liberty or can be purchased online.
