Klokkenluider: On the red carpet with the cast and creatives

Klokkenluider: On the red carpet with the cast and creatives

Dark comedy-thriller Klokkenluider is a character-driven drama that brings together a collaboration between executive producer Ben Wheatley and actor-turned-director Neil Maskell, alongside a cleverly orchestrated cast that delivers a perfect balance of humour and sinister tone.

The film follows a couple who are forced to hide out in a remote location in Belgium with a secret they’ve unearthed. Together they want to find a voice to tell their story, so they seek out a high-ranking journalist. Prior to her arrival, two hapless bodyguards arrive at the house offering up their armed protection, and a claustrophobic evening of wine and charades marks the start of an unexpected and volatile turn of events.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of talking to the cast and creatives of Klokkenluider at the 66th BFI London Film Festival on the Southbank for the European premiere. Maskell discussed his directorial debut and the role he played in getting this story told and brought to screen with the chosen cast.

Sura Dohnke spoke to us about the role she plays as whistleblower Silke, and working with her husband (Maskell).

We chatted to Jenna Coleman about her character in the film, the elements she enjoyed in her role and what it was like working with Maskell and the rest of the ensemble cast.

Stephanie Aspin and Helen Simmons shared a bit about their roles and what they hope viewers will take away from the film.

Actor Roger Evans described his part in the film and the layers of comedy brought in. He also told us about working with Maskell and his fellow cast.
