Hilton London Bankside’s OXBO restaurant serves up Indian fusion menu with live music
OXBO Bankside, the restaurant at Hilton London Bankside, is running a limited-run Indian fusion menu every Wednesday and Thursday from this week till the end of October. The experience pairs traditional Indian dishes with the restaurant’s contemporary cooking and, even better, selected evenings will feature live music from musicians of the Baluji Music Foundation.
Called A Taste of Indian Fusion, the menu uses aromatic spices, rich sauces and seasonal ingredients across meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Starters include Tomatar Shorba (a spiced tomato soup), Murgh Tikka and Carrot and Onion Pakora, and for the mains there’s Butter Chicken, Pan-Fried Sea Bass and Paneer Pasanda. On the dessert menu, there’s Gajar Halwa, a carrot-based pudding, as well as a Shahi Tukda bread pudding and Vermicelli Kheer pudding. Sides such as naan bread, poppadums, jeera pulao and basmati rice are served alongside. The drinks list has a range of cocktails, mocktails, beer, gin and tonics and hot drinks, with several Indian-inspired options.
Live music will be performed on five of the evenings by musicians from the Baluji Music Foundation. The inclusive arts organisation was founded by Linda Shanson and Baluji Shrivastav OBE, a blind Indian multi-instrumentalist and composer, aiming to create employment and professional performance opportunities for disabled artists, to teach the public about traditional and contemporary Indian music, and to encourage racial harmony and diversity.
The current programme is as follows:
23rd September and 21st October: Indian vocals and percussion, with North Indian classical music, folk music and Bollywood songs
30th September and 14th October: Classical sitar and tabla
7th October: Indo-jazz set featuring vocals, keyboards and tabla
