Ronnie Scott’s jazz series returns to Seabird rooftop at The Hoxton Southwark

Ronnie Scott’s, the Soho jazz club, is returning to Seabird, the rooftop restaurant on the 14th floor of The Hoxton Southwark, for a series of Sunday performances. The eight-week run begins on 18th October and ends on 6th December, and is being staged in partnership with Grey Goose vodka, pairing live music with a set menu and a dedicated cocktail list.

Each Sunday opens with dining and DJ sets from 12pm to 4pm, followed by a headline performance at 5pm. Tickets cost between £80 and £100 per person, depending on where they are seated. Each includes a four-course set menu and a Classic Grey Goose Tiny Tini – a small martini made to the guest’s preference.

The line-up opens on 18th October with Scottish jazz vocalist Georgia Cécile, whose work draws on contemporary soul and R’n’B. The Joe Webb Trio follows on 25th October with a set combining classic jazz and 1990s Britpop. Vocalist Betty Black performs on 1st November and trumpeter Jackson Mathod on 8th November, bringing a mix of jazz, funk and soul. Next, there’s pianist and vocalist Natalie Duncan on 15th November, and the Alec Harper Trio on 22nd November, followed by British jazz and soul vocalist Cherise on 29th November. Drummer and composer Myele Manzanza closes the series on 6th December with a set blending modern jazz and African rhythms.

The cocktail menu, created with Grey Goose, is made up of drinks that are stirred rather than shaken to keep the noise down as the show goes on. Classic martinis can be ordered wet or dry, dirty or with a twist, and there’s a Winter Espresso Martini (Pedro Ximénez, cinnamon and Mundo Novo coffee) and a Bergamot Martini (Grey Goose Altius, bergamot cordial, charcoaled lobster oil and saline) served with an oyster. The list is filled out by a Basque Mule with pear and a Pyrenean Sangria made with bilberry, pomegranate and Tempranillo.

The set food menu reflects Seabird’s Iberian, seafood-focused cooking. It starts with a choice of jamón or mushroom croquettes, or padrón peppers. Starters include Pan-Fried Scallop with Roasted Cauliflower and Jerusalem Artichoke Purée, Bonito del Norte or Wood-Fired Leek with Green Harissa and Orange Blossom Agridulce. Sharing mains are Whole Grilled Sea Bass with Burnt Butter and Lemon, a Basque Fish Stew or Paella Valenciana with artichoke hearts, fennel and aioli. All mains come with patatas bravas with truffle Manchego and an endive and pomegranate salad. Dessert is a choice of Basque Cheesecake with winter berry compote or PX Stewed Figs.

The hotel is also offering a Jazz in the City room package for Sunday night stays during the series, which comes with 15% off the room rate, an upgrade subject to availability, late check-out and an in-room Grey Goose martini service for up to two people, with glassware to take home. The package does not include concert tickets, which must be booked separately.
