Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre announces full cast for Bear Snores On stage premiere

In a captivating move to enchant theatre-goers, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has unveiled the complete cast lineup for the much-anticipated world premiere of Bear Snores On, a stage adaptation of the charming picture book by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman. The production, which features a creative team including the talents of Cush Jumbo and Katy Sechiari for the book adaptation and Harry Blake for music and lyrics, is set to engage audiences from 23rd March to 21st April 2024.

The stage adaptation promises a magical journey for families and children aged four and above, inviting them to witness the story of a snoozing bear and a tiny mouse seeking refuge from the winter chill. The cast includes Ashh Blackwood as Hare, Lauren Conroy as Mouse, Ashley D Gayle in the dual role of Bear and Gardener, Albert Graver playing Raven and Wren and Annabel Marlow as Badger.

Adding to the anticipation, the theatre has also released a teaser of the show’s musical offerings with the song Make Myself a Home, composed by Blake, providing a glimpse into the enchanting world of the production.

This staging marks a first for Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, as it presents a production outside its traditional summer season. Audiences will be ushered from the theatre lawn to a newly created indoor pop-up space, crafted especially for this show within the theatre grounds, offering a cosy and immersive environment.

The production team boasts impressive credentials, with Rebecca Brower handling set and costume design, Joshie Harriette on lighting design, Lotte Hines as casting director, Maia Kirkman-Richards as puppet designer and director, Ebony Molina as movement director and Luke Swaffield as sound designer.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s 2024 season also includes an exciting lineup with Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, a new musical version of Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile, Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic The Secret Garden and a new production of Fiddler on the Roof.
