Quaglino’s celebrates 95 years with guest chef series this autumn

This autumn, Quaglino’s will host an exceptional gastronomic series featuring three guest chefs, in celebration of its 95th anniversary. The dinners, running from September to November 2024, will see Shelina Permalloo, Nisha Parmar, and Crystelle Pereira each create a one-night-only exclusive menu in collaboration with Quaglino’s Executive Head Chef, Jack Smith.

The programme will begin on Friday, 13th September, with Shelina Permalloo, who won MasterChef in 2012. Permalloo is renowned for her vibrant Mauritian and African-inspired cuisine, which will be showcased through a menu highlighting Mauritius’s exotic spices and flavours. Creating memories through flavour combinations is a common ambition that connects her to Quaglino’s.

Following her, on Friday, 11th October, Nisha Parmar, a runner-up on MasterChef UK in 2018, will present an Asian-inspired menu focused on small plates ideal for sharing. Earlier this year, Nisha released her first cookbook, “Share”, focusing on dinner party dishes to delight guests, and she will bring the same convivial vibes to the evening.

The guest chef series will conclude on Friday, 1st November, with Crystelle Pereira, a finalist in Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off in 2021, who will offer a Goan-inspired menu. Her debut cookbook, “Flavour Kitchen”, has already made accessible and irresistible to many Portuguese-Goans recipes.

Founded in 1929 by Giovanni Quaglino, the Mayfair restaurant became famous for its fashionable after-hours dinner followed by music and dancing. A celebrity hotspot, some of the venue’s most famous visitors include The Queen in 1956 as well as a number of royals, including Princess Margaret, who enjoyed a permanently reserved table. Quaglino’s was the first public restaurant the late HM Queen Elizabeth ll visited after her coronation in 1952 and this made it the first public restaurant a reigning monarch had ever eaten in. After Quaglino’s retirement, the restaurant was opened in 1993 by Conran Restaurant. In 2014, Quaglino’s relaunched again, now as part of D&D London, with a brand-new look and glittering stage.

During the autumn line-up, each chef will be present in the restaurant on their respective evenings, providing diners not only a chance to experience their distinctive culinary creations but also to interact with the chefs themselves.
