From Rome to London, Agrodolce opens its first UK branch

Agrodolce, the Roman restaurant originally established near the Trevi Fountain in 2018, has launched its first UK branch on Charlotte Street, London. Owned by Maria Soldatova and Antonio Russo, the new location – which opened in early March – aims to replicate the authentic Italian dining experience of its Roman predecessor.

Situated in the bustling area of Fitzrovia, the London outpost of Agrodolce offers a menu that celebrates the art of handmade pasta, a cornerstone of the restaurant’s culinary philosophy, which emphasizes dishes made with love or fatta con amore. Patrons can enjoy a variety of traditional dishes, including Tonnarelli alla Crema di Zafferano con Tartare di Gambero— homemade tonnarelli served with saffron cream and prawn tartare—and Mezzemaniche alla Carbonara, pasta with guanciale, pecorino cheese, and egg.

Maria Soldatova, co-owner of Agrodolce, shared her enthusiasm about the new venture, commenting: “Our aspiration has always been to share the authentic taste of Rome with the world—to give Londoners and travellers alike a chance to experience a piece of our beloved city in the heart of London. We bring our philosophy of fatto con amore—made with love—into everything we do, from our dishes to our approach to hospitality. We grew up believing that food is more than just nourishment; it’s an opportunity to spend quality time together. Having the chance to share this with the people of London is truly a dream come true. We look forward to welcoming everyone to experience the culinary traditions we hold dear.”

The restaurant also offers a tailored lunch menu: The Roman Holiday, priced at £25 per person. This three-course meal includes Fiori Di Zucca, Pappardelle con Ragù Bianco e Rosmarino, and a classic Tiramisù served in an antique teacup.

To complement the dishes, Agrodolce boasts an extensive selection of Italian wines and handcrafted cocktails, carefully chosen by the owners to reflect Italy’s diverse flavours. Highlights from the drinks list include a Barolo from Fortemasso and a Chianti Classico from San Leonino, while a must among the tipples are the Agrodolce spritz, prepared with bitter Roma, prosecco and soda, and Limoncello Spritz, featuring limoncello, prosecco and soda.

The location interior design mirrors the charm of the original Roman site, with vintage crockery sourced from Italian markets and deep green marble tables, for an inviting atmosphere.
