Tom De Keyser opens The Chalk Freehouse in Chelsea

The Chalk Freehouse, a new restaurant venture led by chef Tom De Keyser in partnership with The Tom Kerridge Group, officially opened its doors this week in the heart of Chelsea. The launch marks a significant career move for De Keyser, who previously served as head chef at the two Michelin-starred The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, with the aim of bringing a fresh dining experience to the West London area.

The chef focuses on quality British cuisine, offering a set menu and à la carte options at The Chalk Freehouse. For the set menu, starters include an English Pea Soup with Northern Hummus or Cornish Fish Cake with Fennel Salad and Tomato Butter Sauce, with mains featuring The Chalk” Boudin Blanc with Burnt Pink Lady Apple Purée and Borlotti Beans and Slow-Cooked Leg of Cotswold White Chicken with Garlic Braised Gem Lettuce and Chicken Gravy. Desserts are simple and fresh: British Buttermilk Panna Cotta with Kerridge’s Honey and Elderflower or Today’s Cheese with House Chutney and Fruit Bread. À la carte diners can enjoy snacks such as an Nduja & Smoked Mozzarella Sausage Roll before starters such as Torched Fillet of Cornish Mullet with Red Fish Sauce and Summer Leaf Salsa Verde or The Hand & Flowers” Chicken & Duck Liver Parfait Churned to Order with Poultry Jelly, Apricot Chutney and Toasted Brioche. Mains include, among others, a Rolled Shoulder of Launceston Lamb with Ratatouille or Fish of the Day” with Crispy Cockles and Anchovy & Garlic Dressing.

Chelsea, the new locale, has a vibrant dining scene and affluent clientele. The launch comes at a time of continued interest in chef-led establishments in London, with diners increasingly seeking venues that combine skilled cooking with a distinctive atmosphere. De Keyser’s new move is expected to attract attention from both food critics and the public, given his previous accolades and association Tom Kerridge.

The opening of The Chalk Freehouse adds another notable venue to Chelsea’s restaurant landscape and marks a new stage in the journeys of both Tom De Keyser and The Tom Kerridge Group.
