The View from the Shard offers families discounted weekday tickets for August

Families seeking a final summer outing before the new school term begins are being encouraged to visit The View from the Shard in central London, where a seasonal initiative is offering discounted weekday tickets throughout August. The attraction, located at the top of Western Europe’s tallest building, is running its Summer Saver promotion every Monday and Tuesday between 10am and 5pm, with entry priced at £17. The initiative aims to provide a more accessible opportunity for local families as well as tourists to experience panoramic views of the capital, while engaging children with educational and interactive activities.

The View from The Shard, which sits 310 metres above ground, offers a 360° perspective of London’s skyline, stretching up to 40 miles on a clear day. From this vantage point, visitors can spot landmarks such as Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral and the modern skyscrapers of the City. In addition to the views, the attraction is hosting themed guided tours led by in-house experts, designed to appeal to younger visitors. These sessions include storytelling and historical context, with topics such as the Great Fire and the animals of London, aiming to make the experience both informative and entertaining. Children are also encouraged to spot well-known landmarks from above and count red buses across the cityscape.

Organisers say the experience “naturally sparks curiosity and conversation”, explaining, “For many children, a visit is a rare opportunity to see the capital from such a height and to make connections between what they have seen in books or at school and the real city stretching out beneath them”.
