The Papered Parlour: The school of everything crafty

The Papered Parlour: The school of everything crafty

With grey rainy March looming and the depression lingering, what better way to spend your time than cozied up in a workshop, learning a new skill and creating a unique piece?

Destined to be a modern one day getaway, the Papered Parlour is located in Clapham and was established in 2009 by two young visual artists.

The story of the Papered Parlour began in 2007, when Claire Heafford and Louise Hall crossed paths whilst working for the Battersea arts department. Their story is not unusual: two young graduates desperately seeking a way to earn money out of their full-time artistry, and spend every day doing a job they love. With this thought in mind and their combined entrepreneurial skills, they created a collection and generated profit they invested into The Papered Parlour.

Heafford and Hall were an instant hit. Their workshops were the place to be, the place to create. They brought the UK’s top designers to the doorsteps of the South London community, and the press quickly fell in love with Heafford and Hall as did the public. There were rave revues in Time Out, The Financial Times, and Marie Claire.

Jewellery enthusiasts will love the silversmith workshop and will be well catered for in the making of their own ring. They will learn to draw inspiration from nature and experience the joys of soldering and sawing. Just imagine the incredible reaction that you will get, when presenting this piece to a loved one!

If jewellery doesn’t float your boat, don’t despair, as The Papered Parlour is sure to have the perfect workshop for you with a large range of interior design, photography and sewing ateliers. Would you love to learn how to create a cape, design a dress or complete a quality quilt? Can you afford not to make your home a haven? Are you  someone who loves bling? How about pimping up your shoes? Are the walls in your living room lifeless? Then be empowered to give them an edge with DIY screen-printing or contemporary photography.
