Will you be seduced by a Creature of the Wind this season?

Will you be seduced by a Creature of the Wind this season?

If you haven’t already heard of Creatures of the Wind then shut up, stop what you’re doing and listen.

It’s been a busy year for fashion-designing couple Chris Peters and Shane Gabier since featuring in the Vogue Fashion Fund reality series. During the show finale in November, the Chicago-based couple were declared runners-up. Regardless of result the Creatures of the Wind have seen a soar in sales because of the exposure of their designs.

Their Spring/Summer collections have been picked up by prestigious designer fashion brands and boutiques such as Net-A-Porter and thecorner.com. After taking a look at the collection it really isn’t hard to see why everyone wants to get their mitts on it!

Gabier and Peters’ cited inspirations sound like an adorable and twee pick ‘n’ mix; they confess that everything from 1960s mythical fantasy literature and woodland creatures to the surrealist cult classic films of Kenneth Anger have all played a part in their collection. More importantly, whilst applying these influences the pair have managed to create a range containing exactly what you should be wearing this season.

Here are a few of my favourites from the Spring/Summer collection:

In a lovely, soft, pastel shade cut from feminine, high-quality, silk-chiffon fabric means that this shirt fulfils this season’s vintage-inspired ladylike look perfectly, while the contrasting layers of metallic magenta lace give the garment a quirky edge. I would suggest teaming this shirt with some cute socks; pastel flatform sandals and some sexy, high-waisted denim short shorts which mean you won’t look too sickly sweet.

This black and pistachio-green maxi dress is fantastic too, slightly oversized (which thankfully will hide a multitude of sins), but the translucent mesh panelling means the maxi is sexy rather than frumpy. I think this is great for one of those less-than-sunny summer days and it could be easily dressed up with stacked wedges or dressed down with some converse and a leather jacket.

And finally, I think that this beautiful white structured shift dress really speaks for itself. The skirt is ever so slightly flared to help create a slimming effect (not that this model needs it!). With it being so versatile I think depending on what you teamed the dress with, it could be suitable for just about anything!
