Landscapers: On the red carpet with the cast and creatives

Landscapers is a four-part crime miniseries brought to life on screen by producer and writer Ed Sinclair. Inspired by true events, the story follows the eventual arrest of one devoted, married couple, Susan and Christopher Edwards, who committed the brutal murder of Susan’s parents, William and Patricia Wycherley, in 1998. The pair buried them in their back garden in Mansfield where the crime remained uncovered for over a decade, only coming to light with a carefully planned, full police investigation. An all-star cast features Sinclair’s partner, Olivia Coleman, and David Thewlis as the lead roles, whilst director Will Sharpe is at the helm to unearth the fantastical and bizarre world the couple created for themselves.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to the writer, director and cast at the premiere of Landscapers. Sincair told us why he chose to bring this story to life, what it was like working with Coleman and Thewlis in their roles and what makes this particular story so utterly unique.

Thewlis shared his thoughts about the character Christopher that he plays, how it feels more like a love story than just about the crime and what it was like to film some of the fantasy world moments we get to see.

O’Flynn discussed her role in the series, how she prepared for it with hours of research and what it was like to work alongside such a tremendous and authentic cast.

Ola elaborated on the essence of the story, his role in the series and what he hopes viewers will take away from it.

The director thendiscussed how he came on board with this project, his working relationship with Coleman, and how extraordinary the story was.
